mplayer-fonts software package provides Fonts for mplayer, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install mplayer-fonts
mplayer-fonts is installed in your system.
Make ensure the mplayer-fonts package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep mplayer-fonts *
You will get with mplayer-fonts package name, version, architecture and description in a table
